Short Report from 2017 Central Zone Camp Meeting

By God’s grace, the Central Zone of NAGSDA comprising of eight local churches converged at the West Chester University in PA as originally planned for the 2017 Annual Camp Meeting without any incident. Below are the highlights of the camp meeting. This report will touch a bit of what took place at the central zone camp’17.

Registration/Checking

• Members began arriving at the elegant West Chester University campus around 4.p.m for check- in and registration. As part f their customer service, the University staff offered to assist our campers during the check-in and registering. This offered the zonal executive enough time to handle other logistical duties like handing programs and solving other issues related to directions and parking.

Opening ceremony

• At about 9:10 pm the few saints who were through with their registration processes gathered at the Sykes Ballroom for the opening ceremony. Pastor Kofi Antwi Adarkwa, the Zonal president, gladly welcomed members to our maiden camp meeting. The president thanked God for safe travelling mercies to the camp site and wished all members a happy camp meeting ahead. Also present at the time was the NAGSDA President, Pastor Appia Kubi Kwarteng, who happens to be a member of the Central Zone. Pr. A.K. Kwarteng delivered his welcome address to the gathered saints in  and wished them a great encounter with the Lord. Fifty six adults and twelve children attended the opening ceremony.

Daily Meetings

• The main program began in full swing with our guest speaker, Pastor Andrews Ewoo, beginning the day’s program with a seminar entitled “Reflecting His Christ-likeness”. Campers were captivated by the teaching methods of Dr.Ewoo and the content of his teaching. This was followed by other seminars on Health as well as Home and Family life. Other speakers for the program, including our local pastors graced the program with spirit felt morning and evening devotions. The rest of the days followed similar pattern in terms of the program delivery.

Parade of Churches

• One of the highlights of the camp meeting was the showcasing of all local churches represented. All local Churches paraded their members with excitement in praising God for life and hope. Members sang song of praise with help from our abled musical team helping with the piano and other musical instruments. Before this parade, each local church organized themselves group pictures with their banners proudly showing this was followed by seminars and lectures by the health and finance department.

Fasting and Prayers

• On Friday, campers were ushered into a prayer session which was full of praises and testimonies. The prayer team led by Pr. Amofah A Asamoah and Pr. Agyei Kwei led members to sing praises of thanksgiving as well as various prayers of supplication. Many groups ministered in various forms of songs as well. Campers were also blessed with both devotional services presented by Pastor Antwi Boasiako in the morning and Pastor Afum in the evening.

Other departments

The women ministry led by Mrs. Antwi Adarkwa ushered in the Sabbath day with local welfare songs praising our Lord and maker.  Mrs Adarkwah entreated members to emulate the virtuous life of Mary, the mother of Jesus, who at her age, unveiled herself to be used by the Holy Spirit. She encouraged mothers to be mindful of the way they treat their children.

This was followed by the Sabbath School Lesson study which was led by Ebenezer Ghanaian S.D.A.

The Divine service followed immediately after this. The Sermon for the day was   entitled “What is your Spiritual height? How tall are you in Christ?” The sermon which was preached by the guest speaker for camp ‘17, Pr. Andrews Ewoo, was spiced by songs from the mass singing band and mass choir. We were all blessed after the wonderful sermon was over.

Children Department

The leaders of our children department deserve all commendation. The children were kept under control and were treated to many biblical and social programs throughout the period. Mrs. Osei Amo and her team worked exceedingly to make sure that our children received all they needed at the camp. In fact they went above and beyond to making sure that the children were together at all time. The use of color coded shirts for all children was one excellent idea introduced this year for the children.

Security

The security team led by elder Donyina did a wonderful job which resulted in zero incidents involving any child at this year’s camp meeting.

Food

There was no complaining about feeding this year. Members enjoyed variety of food served in the cafeteria.

Punctuality

Campers were very always present at all meetings and there were a few times that we were late for programs. The majority of our programs were run on time. Speaker and presenter were very cognizance of time, which was very helpful.

When all was said and done, the camp registered 227 adults, and 56 children above 4 years.

To God be the glory for the great thing that was done through His saints. Members expressed their satisfaction and happiness at all gatherings and, like Peter of old, wished we could pitch our tents at the magnificent West Chester campus for a little longer. Members voted overwhelmingly during our consecration service their willingness to maintain our zones. Although we faced a few huddles, campers comported themselves very well in all cases. We praise the Lord for a wonderful encounter with Him.
